“You don’t know me, you don’t love me, you sure as all damn don’t want to marry me, so why don’t you leave me the hell alone?”

Andie’s review: Now I’m willing to bet that most of you have never even heard of the movie Shag, but it comes very highly recommended.
It’s the story of four girls who have just graduated from high school in 1963. Before they part ways to college, marriage, etc., they decide to road trip to Myrtle Beach for one last fling. What they end up with is way more than they bargained for — and provides a very funny movie for girls and guys alike. (Trust me. I’ve made my guy friends watch it and they all thought it was way funny).
The four girls are Pudge (Annabeth Gish), the ‘guys’ best friend’ girl; Carson (Phoebe Cates), the sheltered, about-to-get-married girl; Melaina (Bridget Fonda), the wild child; and Luanne (some redhead), the boring one. They all end up meeting guys and everyone seems to know how to shag (the dance, not the Austin Powers version).
It’s a lot like a Deep South version of Dirty Dancing, with some great party scenes, awesome dancing, and cool dialogue. And Bridget Fonda does some things with a Confederate Flag that… well, you’ll have to see it. This movie is great for a night in with the girls. I guarantee that you can cast the whole movie with girls from your group of friends, which makes it that much more fun to watch.
My favorite movie along with Dirty Dancing. I introduced my friends to it in college and 20+ years later, we will still quote it to each other. (And yes, I know which friend is which character)
