Remember when people — especially teens — used to hang out at shopping malls? The movies definitely remember so that you can go back and revisit these mall-centric flicks:
Mallrats (1995)
From our review: “Back in the day, everyone hated Mallrats. I don’t exactly know why, but if I did, I’d be on the psychic network hotline. But now that over a half dozen years have passed and the backlash abated down into mild finger cramps, Mallrats has snuggled itself up into the national consciousness as an essential cult flick.”
Chopping Mall (1986)
From our review: “It’s really hard to take any of this seriously as a horror movie because of the outright ridiculous nature of adorable laser-toting robots blasting up a mall. In fact, I would swear this was some sort of modern satire of weird ’80s horror premises, but no, this actually came out and was a thing.”

Phantom of the Mall: Eric’s Revenge (1989)
From our review: “Whether or not you like the premise, this movie is offering you 90 nostalgic minutes of getting to hang out in an ’80s shopping mall on a more lethal-than-usual Saturday.”
Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever (2014)
From our review: “Grumpy Cat (voiced by Parks and Recreation’s Aubrey Plaza) is an unwanted pet store cat at the mall who spends her days snarking at anyone and everything around her.”

Dawn of the Dead (1978)
From our review: “If zombies were rampaging your neighborhood and slaughtering everyone in sight, where would you go? If you said The Gap or Orange Julius, then you might just be one of the survivors.”
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
From our review: “Crashing at the mall is mostly a good idea for the survivors, though. Sure, the closest gun place is across the street and therefore 12,058 zombies are between the good guys and the ammo they need, but at least they mall’s coffee shop is fully stocked! Whew!”
