6 more summer camp movies

Just because fall is here doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy one last trip back to the woods with few more of our favorite summer camp films!

Meatballs 4

From our review: “It’s the type of summer camp that can only exist in the movies — and in our dreams. Even on the edge of bankruptcy and shutdown, Lakeside Water Ski Camp has hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of watersports equipment, is able to truck in a couple dozen 18-year-olds who could model for a living and are plagued with rampant nudity, and one token fat kid who apparently grew up in the Great Depression.”

American Pie Presents Band Camp

From our review: “Call me crazy, but they actually had a sliver of a good idea to place the setting of the film at the infamous band camp briefly seen in American Pie 2. It’s a perfect place to get a fresh batch of likable teens, throw in the requisite sex stuff and funny pranks, and have some sort of big competition at the end between the good band geeks and the bad band geeks.”

Ernest Goes to Camp

From our review: “It’s not sophisticated humor, mind you, but there’s a lot of energy spent here to get jokes on the screen — and a lot of that rests on the shoulders of Varney’s acting.”

Freddy vs. Jason

From our review: “When these two come together to party, woe to any snobby, whiny teenagers caught between! I think that Freddy vs. Jason might boast some of the most annoying teenage cast put in a horror film to date, but that only makes it that much sweeter the moment the rampage begins.”

Camp Nowhere

From our review: “Camp Nowhere displays a cornucopia of horrid child acting unlike anything you’ve ever seen. 96% of the cast consists of children under the age of 13 who were probably chosen for the part because they were in league with the Prince of Darkness, who exchanged their immortal soul for the ability to deliver some of the most groan-worthy lines of dialogue and act all ‘rad’ even though it was their nap time.”

Sleepaway Camp

From our review: “More than suspense and death scenes is Sleepaway Camp’s underhanded oddness. It took me a while to even put it into the front of my mind, but when it happened, I really took note of how incredibly disturbed this movie is. “
