Remembering David Lynch

I discovered David Lynch in 1984 with Eraserhead. Watching it was as though a door had been opened in my mind. I was instantly captivated by the unique and surreal storyline.

To be fair, if there was a decade discover David Lynch, it would be the ’80s. Without a doubt, this was his power decade and many of his most influential works were produced during that period. I always felt that his ’90s films featured a more mature David Lynch who was embraced by Hollywood even if they weren’t entirely certain what they were going to get. That was the beauty. He was one of the powerful filmmakers of our time, certainly a dying breed in Hollywood.

I desperately hope that his legacy will be an inspiration to present and future filmmakers to follow their passion, make the movies you want to make, and pay no attention to the critics.
