Kicking off in 1988, Mystery Science Theater 3000 popularized the trend of making bad movies fun by “riffing” on them. A trio of marooned wisecrackers — initially Joel, Crow, and Tom Servo — attempted to stay sane during their stay aboard the Satellite of Love by mocking all sorts of B-movies. The show gave birth to countless seasons, a movie, and spin-off projects such as Cinematic Titanic and RiffTrax.
