Do you know what today is? No, it’s not Rex Manning Day (that’s April 8th) — it’s the day that Mutant Reviewers returns! Sort of! Let me explain!
So obviously, things have fallen off quite a bit here at this long-running cult movie review site. People have moved on, reviews were reduced to a trickle, and then we’ve been silent for well over a year now. That’s how life goes sometimes: People move on, interests change, and sites like this become museums that preserve the past. Before I move on with this notice, I do want to give a special thanks to Deneb and Mike for bearing the Mutant Reviewers torch for the past half-decade or so. That’s pretty awesome of them.
What’s bugged me is that there’s a wealth of Mutant Reviewers movie reviews that still aren’t up on this site. When we moved over from a self-hosted thing to WordPress, the idea was to gradually bring all of the old reviews over. They’re still preserved elsewhere but hard to access, and I do regret that we don’t have the full array up here for you to enjoy.
Thus, the idea of Mutant Reviewers’ return is pretty simple. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, we’re going to bring over one of those old movie reviews and repost them on this site for the first time. You’ll be reading all sorts of classics and blasts from the past, helping you find great cult flicks to enjoy while basking in the nostalgia of posts from the 1990s and 2000s. Make sure that you follow the Mutant Reviewers Twitter feed and join the Facebook group so that you don’t miss out!
We’re also giving the site a facelift and streamlining some of the menus. If you’re new to the world of Mutant Reviewers, I’d suggest checking out our Meet the Mutants page as well as our 20th anniversary post.
And who knows? Getting the review train going again might inspire some old writers to come out of hiding — or encourage new ones to take up the glorious task of reviewing the weird, wacky, and bizarre movies that are out there. If you are personally interested in becoming a Mutant Reviewer, drop me a line on Twitter and we shall talk.
Now, enjoy the show — and thanks for being with us all these years!
