The fans of Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead saga don’t merely number among regular audience-goers — there are plenty of filmmakers who have connected their movies with Ash and his adventures. Here are six films that are connected to the Evil Dead franchise:
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984): Wes Craven and Sam Raimi enjoyed tossing friendly nods to each other in their movies. In the first Nightmare, Nancy can be clearly seen watching Evil Dead in her room. In return, Evil Dead 2 hung Freddy’s glove in the basement that Ash explores.
Jason Goes to Hell (1993): How do you bring Jason back from the extra-extra-dead? Why, you pick up and use the same Necronomicon prop from the Evil Dead series! That rascally book, always causing problems.

Drag Me to Hell (2009): Sam Raimi’s often-overlooked (and very underrated) horror flick shares a lot of DNA with his Evil Dead films, including the Oldsmobile, Three Stooges-like slapstick, an eyeball flying into a mouth, possessing demons, and more. Raimi has since indicated that this exists in the Evil Dead universe and can be viewed as a spiritual successor.
Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings (1994): The Necronomicon pops up in this one as well, with a witch guarding the tome that could be used to resurrect a demonic entity. She does a poor job, though. Where’s Ash when you need a clean-up on aisle 2?

Scream (1996): Wes Craven gave another little hat tip to Raimi in his horror classic. At the start of the house party, Randy holds up a couple VHS tapes for the crowd to pick a movie — and Evil Dead is clearly one of them. They chose Halloween instead, however.
The Cabin in the Woods (2011): Putting aside that the whole setup of the titular cabin in the woods and sinister cellar looks ripped right out of Evil Dead, the “monster whiteboard” lists “Deadites” (and “Angry Molesting Tree”) as one of the possible horrors that could be inflicted on the students.
