Six of the best cult sequels out of the ’90s

The 1990s saw an explosion of movie sequels in far more than the horror genre — and some absolutely knocked it out of the park. Today let’s take a look at a half-dozen of the best cult movie sequels to come out in that time period:

Troll 2 (1990)

From our review: “Welcome to Troll 2, the movie that will take you up on any bet to make something so bad, so insane that it loops all the way around the universe right back to awesomely perfect.”

Waxwork II: Lost in Time (1992)

From our review: “It’s kinda cool in parts, ridiculous in others, and the acting has to be smelled to be believed. But all in all, Waxwork II: Lost in Time is enough of a buffet of quirky ideas that it’s fairly easy to be entertained by the effort.”

Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991)

From our review: “I think this movie does grow on you over time, and it’s one that I’ve come to appreciate more and more upon subsequent rewatchings.”

A Very Brady Sequel (1996)

From our review: “However, it’s middle child Jan who once again steals the show, this time while trying to carry on a charade that she actually has a boyfriend. You know, the infamous George Glass. Who turns out to be a mannequin because Jan is completely insane.”

Army of Darkness (1993)

From our review: “It’s plenty of destruction and swordplay, with quite a few anachronisms, including Ash’s time-lost car and gunpowder, to make everything a lot more exciting and booming. Macho fun for horror and humor fans alike.”

Vegas Vacation (1997)

From our review: “Vegas Vacation, if brought up in polite company at all these days, is quickly dissed and dismissed. But you know what, I don’t care what people say — I like Vegas Vacation a lot. In fact, after Christmas Vacation, it’s my second favorite in the entire series.”
